UPDATE, February 21, 2026: The administrator of Mr. Newgent’s social media is removing our comments from his YouTube channel.

In response, we are “sharing” his videos to our own YouTube channel, with the following statement:

“According to Newgent, Texas Congressional District 3 is “all of McKinney, East Plano, Wylie, Sachse” Why doesn’t Newgent acknowledge Delta, Hunt, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus or Morris Counties are ALSO in CD 3? Mr. Newgent, you ask “where is Keith Self, but where are YOU? Why haven’t you come to present your pro-Islam East Plano pitch HERE? Why are you being fundraised for by the President of the North Texas Islamic Council? I follow Yasir Qhadi to keep an eye on him, but why do YOU follow him??? Is that where you get your political and “religious” guidance? NE Texas is waiting for answers, Mr. “Lifelong Texan” who just moved here in 2023.”

Who Is Mark Newgent — Really?

Voters in Congressional District 3 (most of Collin County, plus Hunt, Delta, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris Counties in whole) deserve clarity. Not branding. Not borrowed rhetoric. Not last-minute reinvention.

True clarity.

Because when a candidate tells Texas Republicans he is a “lifelong Texan,” but his own public records show multiple California campaigns as recently as 2020, that is not a small discrepancy. That is a foundational one.

And when a candidate who never previously ran as a conservative suddenly appears in a Republican primary asking you to trust that he is one now — that requires scrutiny.

Let’s walk through the record.

I. The California Years: Not One Campaign — Multiple

Public filings show Mark Newgent ran for Irvine City Council in 2018 and again in 2020. These were not isolated civic flirtations. They were structured campaigns with formal FPPC filings, including:

  • FPPC 410

  • FPPC 460

  • FPPC 497LCR

  • FPPC 501

  • FPPC 700

The public netfile listing shows multiple filings across both cycles, including amendments and late contribution reports.

That is not a one-time civic experiment.

That is an active California political career.

Nowhere in those campaigns did he brand himself as a Texas conservative. Nowhere did he run under the Republican Party of Texas platform. His archived Wayback Machine issue pages describe a bipartisan, municipal reform style campaign — standard California city governance language, not Texas Republican doctrine.

That matters.

Because reinvention is easy.

Consistency and commitment are hard.

II. The Irvine Messaging: Bipartisan, Not Conservative

Archived issue pages from his Irvine campaign reflect typical municipal themes:

  • Public safety

  • Infrastructure

  • Community engagement

  • Fiscal management

They do not reflect:

  • Texas Republican Party platform planks

  • Explicit constitutional conservatism

  • State sovereignty arguments

  • Border enforcement doctrine

  • Anti-ESG language

  • School choice activism

  • Property tax abolition frameworks

In California, he ran as a city candidate.

In Texas, he runs as a conservative Republican.

Voters are entitled to ask: when did the ideological conversion occur?

Before or after crossing state lines?

III. The Residency Question

In his Ballotpedia survey, he described himself as a “lifelong Texan,” and states that he is “not a career politician.”

Yet public records show:

  • Active California campaigns through 2020

  • California property purchase records as recently as 2020

  • California FPPC filings in 2020–2021

  • Collin County, Texas, property purchase records in 2022

Texas voters deserve a straight timeline:

When did he move?
When did he establish domicile?
When did he cease California political activity?

“Lifelong” has a meaning.

It does not mean “recent arrival.”

IV. The East Plano / EPIC Engagement

Newgent has appeared in New Saudi (aka East Plano, Texas) and at the East Plano Islamic Center forum. That is a matter of record. Candidates attend forums, and Newgent wasn’t the only “Republican” who attended the East Plano Islamic Center’s bipartisan congressional forum on February 9, 2026. Fine.

However, at that event, Dallas News reports indicates a call encouraging Democrats to vote in the Republican primary.

That is not illegal. Texas has open primaries.

But it is political strategy.

When a “Republican” primary candidate publicly urges crossover voting, Republican primary voters should stand up and take notice.

Especially when that candidate’s prior political history is rooted in California bipartisan campaigns — not Texas conservative organizing.

V. The Facebook Statement: His Words, Not Ours

In a circulated Facebook post (see uploaded record ), Newgent wrote:

“The fact is, McKinney will likely have a Muslim-majority city council in about 12–24 months. I know, I am advising them on how.”

He continued:

“We have 4,000 registered Muslim voters who vote as a bloc… If half of this Muslim voting bloc turns out, they will control all elections in perpetuity.”

He added:

“It’s a fact that Christians are not reproducing at high rates and are losing control of their government. It makes sense that a more dominant, masculine group would come in and take over.”

Those are not paraphrases.

Those are his words.

You may agree with them.
You may disagree with them.
But you cannot pretend they do not exist.

They reveal something far more important than partisan labels:

They reveal a demographic strategy worldview.

Politics framed as bloc mobilization math.

That is not standard Texas Republican platform language.

VI. The Platform Mismatch

The 2024 Republican Party of Texasb (RPT) platform is explicit. It is not vague. It is not aesthetic.

It is clear about:

  • Closed Primaries

  • Limited government

  • Border security

  • Protection of constitutional liberties

  • Fiscal restraint

  • Parental authority

  • Election integrity

The RPT platform is not a demographic arithmetic document.
It is not a “who can mobilize a bloc” manual.
It is not a population-replacement strategy blueprint.

Yet when you compare:

  • His California municipal “bipartisan” campaigns

  • His sudden Texas conservative rebranding

  • His urging of crossover primary voting

  • His public statements about bloc-based political control

  • His advisory role in zoning and demographic influence

  • His residency timeline discrepancies

You do not get ideological consistency.

You get adaptation.

And “adaptation” in politics is not usually conversion, but positioning.

VII. Campaign Finance Patterns

Multiple California filings across 2018 and 2020 demonstrate sustained political ambition long before Texas entered the picture. That is documented.

The pattern shows:

  • Repeated candidacies

  • Structured reporting

  • Ongoing political engagement

This was not a first-time civic volunteer suddenly discovering politics in Texas.

This was an established candidate relocating.

That alone is not disqualifying.

But it becomes relevant when paired with a claim of being a “lifelong Texan.”

Because if a candidate misrepresents something that simple, voters must ask: what else is flexible?

VIII. The Representation Question

Here is the another real issue.

Representation.

Since arriving in Texas, where has he campaigned?

Where has he built relationships?

Where has he shown up?

Has he been visible in rural counties newly drawn into CD-3?
Has he walked Titus County?
Has he held town halls outside suburban hubs?
Has he engaged agricultural voters?

Or is the visible concentration of activity clustered around specific urban centers and high-density communities such as the East Plano Islamic Center? Because it most certainly looks a particular kind of way, when the President of the North Texas Islamic Council is supporting Newgent in several ways (we are still receiving requested record from the state).

That is a legitimate political question.

Because a congressional district is not one neighborhood.

It is farmers, ranchers, small-town business owners, suburban families, veterans, homeschool parents, and blue-collar workers.

Representation requires geographic investment.

The Core Issue

Is Mark Newgent a “lifelong” Texas conservative who simply happened to run multiple bipartisan California campaigns before relocating?

Or is he a politically adaptable candidate who calibrates messaging to the electorate he is courting?

The voters of CD-3 deserve an answer grounded in records — not rhetoric.

Because Republican primaries are not experimental labs.

They determine who carries the banner in November.

Texas conservatives are not obligated to accept reinvention at face value.

They are obligated to vet it.

And this time, the records are already on the table.

if a candidate’s history shows:

  • No prior conservative branding

  • No documented alignment with the Texas Republican platform before relocation

  • A willingness to frame politics in demographic power terms

  • A timeline that conflicts with biographical claims

Then Republican voters have every right (and an obligation) to stop and figure it out

Here at Accountability Matters PMA we have been occupied with the primary races, investigating on behalf of concerned constituents, and also advocating for people like the Warrad girls who fled TO California to escape their physically abusive Islamic father when the Harris County courts and every other Texas agency failed them, and so our research into this race was getting pushed back closer to election day.

We are incredibly grateful to the spouse of one of our members who brought to our attention early enough that hopefully we can bring it to your attention before you vote.

WE MUST PASS THE SWORD AND SHIELD ACTS so that EVEN WHEN PEOPLE WHO SEEK TO SUBVERT AND DESTROY OUR LIBERTIES DO GET ELECTED, WE CAN DEFEND THE U.S. CONSTITUTION.

The Resolution Denouncing CAIR, Defending the Constitution, and Demanding for Elected Officials Sworn to Uphold the Constitution (authored by Morgan Collier, co-founder of Accountability Matters) was recently passed by the Texas Republican Party of Texas State Republican Executive Committee, at their quarterly meeting in June, 2025.

Our resolution was first passed by the Rusk County, Texas, County Executive Committee of the Republican Party, in conjunction with Texas’ first annual Judeo-Christian Capitol Day, a Firstfruits of Freedom Celebration!

The 2025 Judeo-Christian Capitol Day event was sponsored by Accountability Matters, Rep. Brian Harrison, and Penny Story;

We are looking forward to our 2026 Judeo-Christian Capitol Day on May 19, 2026, sponsored by Accountability Matters and Senator Bob Hall!

DOWNLOAD a copy of Accountability Matters Resolution HERE, and ask your organization, City Council, County Commissioner’s Court, or Party Executive Committee, to pass it as well!

We demand that the Texas Legislature:

1. Enact Anti-Terrorism Laws: Pass legislation that specifically criminalizes CAIR activities, including membership in or support for CAIR, a terrorist organization. Define terrorism broadly to cover recruitment, training, financing, and propaganda activities.

2. Regulate Financial Transactions: Implement laws to monitor and restrict financial activities linked to terrorism, such as money laundering or fundraising for terrorist groups such as CAIR. Require banks and financial institutions to report suspicious transactions and collaborate with federal programs like the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).

3. Prohibit Material Support: Enact laws that penalize providing material support (e.g., weapons, funds, or safe havens) to terrorist organizations, aligning with federal statutes like 18 U.S.C. § 2339B.

4. Community Engagement and Deradicalization Programs: Fund programs to counter violent extremism by engaging communities, promoting education, and supporting deradicalization initiatives. Partner with local organizations to identify and intervene in cases of radicalization.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM ACCOUNTABILITY MATTERS and DEFENDING OUR REPUBLIC

Christian Women Forced to Cancel Peaceful Protest Against Hamas-Linked Group Due to Targeted Intimidation

April 26, 2025

It is with a heavy heart that Accountability Matters and Defending our Republic announces the cancellation of our collaborative planned peaceful protest against the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) at the Texas State Capitol on April 29.

This decision was not made lightly, but was necessitated by escalating threatening language and what feels like deliberate intimidation directed at our members—particularly the Christian women who courageously organized this event.

Our protest was intended to raise awareness about CAIR’s documented associations with terrorism-linked entities, including its designation as an unindicted co-conspirator in the 2007 Holy Land Foundation trial, which exposed CAIR’s deep connections to Hamas.

We also sought to spotlight CAIR’s growing influence over Texas schools, law enforcement, and legislation.

However, in the days following our announcement, our organizers were met with a coordinated campaign of smears, false accusations, and inflammatory rhetoric from CAIR and its political allies.

The resulting environment of fear and insecurity made it impossible, in good conscience, to proceed with the rally.

The safety of our members and their families must come first.

This disturbing situation highlights the very issue we sought to protest: the suppression of dissent through intimidation.

The right to peacefully assemble and speak out is guaranteed by the Constitution. When that right is threatened by an organization with known ties to foreign terror networks, Americans must take notice.

Our decision comes as CAIR reels from mounting scandals—including national outrage over what was falsely presented as a hate crime in Houston, when a schoolyard fight was exploited by CAIR to push a false narrative of anti-Muslim bigotry. Houston Independent School District later contradicted CAIR’s claims, confirming that the incident was unrelated to religion or race.

The controversy appeared timed to manipulate public sympathy and draw attention away from an active state investigation into the EPIC City development project, tied to radical cleric Yasir Qadhi.

Make no mistake:

• CAIR is desperate to silence critics as public scrutiny intensifies.
• CAIR’s intimidation campaign proves our point—that it is not a civil rights group but a political weapon of coercion and subversion.
• CAIR’s tactics confirm why Texans must demand that their state cut all ties with groups linked to terrorism.

The women who organized this protest were driven not by hate—but by love for Texas, for truth, and for America’s founding principles.

They have now been bullied off the Capitol steps by an organization that weaponizes victimhood, suppresses opposition, and manipulates public institutions to serve an extremist agenda.

While the protest has been canceled, the mission is not.
We will not be silenced.
We will not back down.

Accountability Matters and Defending our Republic remain fully committed to fighting for transparency, national security, and the protection of constitutional freedoms.

We urge Texas lawmakers to take up where we leave off:
Investigate CAIR. Cut all government ties. Protect the people of Texas.

Texas must immediately follow the lead of Florida—and even the Biden administration—by severing all ties with Hamas-linked CAIR.

After the October 7, 2023, Hamas massacre of Israeli civilians, CAIR’s national director, Nihad Awad, publicly celebrated the attacks, saying he was “happy” to see Palestinians break the siege.

The Biden White House condemned and publicly distanced itself from CAIR, calling Awad’s remarks “reprehensible.”

In 2024, Florida’s House overwhelmingly passed HR 1209, formally condemning CAIR’s terror ties and urging all government agencies to cut all contact.

Texas must do the same. Texans deserve leaders who defend them—not groups tied to terrorism and extremist ideology.

This is not the end.
This is the beginning of a broader movement.

Because accountability still matters. And so does truth.

Thank you for your submission!
