California to Kerrville

On July 4, 2025, catastrophic flooding swept through Kerr County.
Twenty-seven children and counselors — now known as Heaven’s 27 — lost their lives.

That same day, Greg Abbott held a press conference in Kerrville announcing a disaster declaration and the State’s emergency response.

What Texans were not told — but what public travel disclosures now show — is where the Governor was coming from.

July 4, 2025 — Kerrville Flooding

  • Greg Abbott traveled from Costa Mesa, California directly to Kerrville, Texas

  • Disclosed travel cost: $13,841.55

  • Security personnel traveled from the same origin, on the same date, at the same disclosed cost.

This was not a Texas-to-Texas emergency deployment.
It was same-day travel originating in California, during the deadliest flooding event in Kerr County.

This Was Not an Isolated Trip

Public records show repeated, high-dollar travel originating from Costa Mesa, California before and after the Kerrville disaster:

March 3, 2024

  • Greg Abbott — Costa Mesa, CA → Austin, TX
    Expense: $58,900.00

  • Cecilia Abbott — same route, same date
    Expense: $58,900.00

  • Security personnel — same origin/date
    Expense: $58,900.00

July 6, 2025 (Two Days After Heaven’s 27)

  • Cecilia Abbott — Costa Mesa, CA → Austin, TX
    Expense: $47,200.00

  • Additional travelers from the same origin and date:
Leticia Phelan, Jennifer Jacks, and Lourdes Addicks — each at $47,200.00

  • Security personnel — same origin/date
    Expense: $47,200.00

Why Texans Are Only Seeing This Now

These travel details became public only after the legally required reports were filed in mid-January.
Texans are learning this information now not because of delay or spin, but because that is when the disclosures were due.

The Question Texans Deserve Answered

These are not opinions.
These are dates, routes, and dollar amounts taken directly from public disclosures.

So Texans are left with a simple, unavoidable question:

Why was the Governor of Texas in Costa Mesa, California, while children were drowning in Kerr County, Texas — and what was happening there that required repeated five-figure travel originating from that same city?

No allegation is made here.
No motive is assigned.

But when Heaven’s 27 were losing their lives, Texans had every right to expect their Governor was already here — not flying in from California at a cost exceeding what many Texas families earn in a year.
